Our Community Place

A chess ladder works like this . .

1. You put your name, phone number, and e-mail (where appropriate) on a nameplate and hang it at the bottom of the ladder.
2. You challenge anyone up to two spots above on the ladder to a game of chess.
3. You play the match anywhere you want, but certainly here is encouraged.
4. If you win you take his spot; if you lose you stay where you are.
5. When challenged by someone you have two weeks in which to play or you lose your position to him.

The first ordering of nameplates should be random.

We're trying to make an inviting place for chess-playing in the community, so you might see other trappings, such as over-sized chess boards for playing outdoors.  Maybe chess instruction books will start showing up on our shelves.  We'd even like to hook in to the global chess community via the internet.
