Donating to OCP

Donations are always welcomed with open arms at Our Community Place as we find ourselves constantly in need of food and funds, not to mention a few other things we dare put on our wishlist (see below). We also rely on generous contributions of time from members of the community and offer many ways to help out.

 

Funds

Money donations can be made at any time, in-person or through the mail.  We also have a PayPal option that accepts payment by debit or credit cards.  To make your donation by check, please make it payable to “Our Community Place” and send it to:

You can also stop by and drop it off, cash or check. An OCP donation jar can also be found on the counter at The Little Grill Collective across the street at 621 North Main Street.

OCP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  Our non-profit status can be verified through GuideStar. All donations can be itemized on your tax return.

 

Food

fresh produce We accept food all year long for our day-to-day needs, for meals we prepare and food we give away, and for special meals such as the ones we prepare at holidays.  Bread and pastry donations we already receive in abundance through a weekly pick-up at Costco and a delivery made through the Catholic church. Canned and other processed foods are always helpful. During the growing season, fresh produce is a special treat for our community, and much appreciated.  We’ve often received tomatoes, squash, and corn in the past, as well as a variety of other farm products.

 

Reverse donations

OCP often gets large donations of food and household items that we either can't use at all or can't use fast enough! We'd like to pass these items on to the community as a "pay what you will" store.

Check OCP before going grocery shopping... especially if you need bread!

 

Vehicles

If you have a working vehicle you'd like to donate to OCP, please consider donating the vehicle to v-Dac, a third-party organization dedicated to taking vehicle donations for any charity. This option will save us the administrative effort and the trouble of arranging auctions.  Just make sure you tell them you want to charitable proceeds to go to Our Community Place. If you're interested in donating a working vehicle in our name, please give them a call at 1-877-999-8322 or view their website.

We can take any donations of non-working vehicles, which we send to the metal scrap yard to trade for US currency.
